Bunbury Lighthouse WA - a mobile phone tower?
by Steve Merson, Chief Editor
It seems that Bunbury Port Authority has approached Telstra with a proposal to put mobile phone equipment on the Bunbury Lighthouse, to earn some much needed extra revenue by way of leasing access to them. As many as eleven individual antennae (the visual impact would be disgraceful) could appear atop the tower - to address an issue of poor reception in a new locality known as Marlston Hill.
Telstra and Bunbury Port Authority have stated that if there is significant public opposition to the plan then they will find an alternative location. The closure of acceptance of public comments was late last year, but if you wish to express your disapproval of the plan, it may not be too late - if you do it now!
