Even operational lights are not immune to vandalism - recent breakages (gunshot holes) have prompted AMSA to replace the glass panels on the landward side of the lantern room of the Table Cape Lighthouse with polycarbonate.
The lighthouse is expected to be repainted in the next month.
The Waratah-Wynyard Council has engaged Philip Leighton architects to prepare plans to enable work to commence on the modifications before the lighthouse can be opened again for public tours. The project is expected to be completed later this year.
