| Nearly two dozen historic lighthouses need caretakers The U.S. General Services Administration has announced that a number of lighthouses around the United States have been made available to public and private entities as long as they agreed to preserve them. |
Digital lighthouses guide vessels safely away from
tropical storm Chanchu China's new digital lighthouse system passed its first major test with tropical storm Chanchu, guiding all vessels in Chinese waters to safety. Chanchu sank at least 10 vessels off Vietnam and left dozens of seamen dead or missing. |
