The Point Home Lookout Lighthouse was erected in 1971. Its construction was vital to assist the giant woodchip carriers entering Port Triabunna.

LOCATION: Latitude 42° 33.2' S, Longitude 147° 57.2' E (Map)
OPERATOR: Australian Maritime Safety Authority
CHARACTER: Occulting (1 eclipse) in 6 Seconds
LIGHT SOURCE: 1000 Watt 120v, Tungsten Halogen
POWER SOURCE: 240v Mains Supply; Diesel Standby
INTENSITY: 36,000 cd
ELEVATION: 57 Metres
RANGE: 20 Nautical Miles
HEIGHT: 14 Metres

History

The Point Home Lookout Lighthouse was erected in 1971.

Its construction was vital to assist the giant woodchip carriers entering Port Triabunna.

The lighthouse was constructed as an automatic light and was never manned.

 

Access

There is no public access to this light. It is located on private land to the east of Triabunna. The road is rough and permission is needed to enter.

The light can also be approached from the sea though it can be a difficult climb.
