International Lighthouse Weekend - 19-21 August 2005
The Cape Otway Lightstation has organised a festival of activities for the International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend.
The program begins at 5.15pm on Friday, with a sunset tour of the Lightstation and dinner. The Wine Makers Dinner, with four courses and wines is at 6pm, and the opening performance of the award-winning one-man play The Lightkeeper is scheduled for 8pm. Bookings are essential.
Saturday includes readings by Peter Hill, author of the book Stargazing: Memoirs of a Young Lightkeeper, a matinee performance of The Lightkeeper at 1pm, and a Sunset Wine Makers Dinner at 6pm, followed by an evening performance of the play at 8pm.
Peter Hill will be continuing readings and book signing at 12pm on Sunday, followed by a matinee showing of The Lightkeeper at 1pm.

Tickets are limited and must be booked for the sunset tours, the winemakers dinners, and the special showing of the magnificent The Lightkeeper play. Wine Makers dinner and show packages are available. All shows include a tour of Lightstation.
Other activities include the radio operators contacting other lighthouses as part of the ILLW event, and telegraph operators sending messages via telegraph all around the world. Heritage police and infantry brigades will be wandering around in period costume, carrying out re-enactments of the sacking of the first Lightkeeper Captain James Ross Lawrence. There will be activities for all the family, including entertainment for the young kids by KIDZONE @ the Cape.
