Dear LoA, I hope that you can help me, I am trying to source images c.1900 of the Split Point Lighthouse and in particular the old stables/blacksmith (which is now the Lighthouse Gallery and Tearooms) and a picture of the Pearse family together. This is for a series of historical plaques which will be installed around the Split Point Lighthouse precinct at Aireys Inlet in Victoria. Your readers may also be interested to know that the Split Point Lighthouse is due to open for guided tours in the near future. I will keep you posted on the latest information about the launch date. Regards Simon Loone |

Dear LoA, I am an American now married to an Australian lady and living in Australia. Having been involved in research for some 30 years in Florida, I have built a public, free use memorial website for Australians who participated in the American Civil War and are now buried in Australia - visit http://www.acwv.info. I want to find a picture of the ship, the SS Governor Musgrave, because one of the veterans served on her and I wanted to place a picture of the ship on his memorial page. I know little about the ship except it sailed out of a port in southern Australia. I wish I could tell you more. James Gray
Hello Jim, The South Australian Maritime Museum kindly grants permission for these photographs to be displayed on our site. Regards Steve Merson Hi Steve, There's no way to express my gratitude in helping with this project. These will be the crowning pinnacle of his memorial presentation. LoA Inc. will of course be acknowledged. Would you also like a link to your site from the memorial website? If so, send me the link information and it will be added. There is already a big interest in the site and seems to be growing daily. Even the U.S. Consul wants to refer people to it. Jim |

Joanne from NSW writes in a feedback form: I have had a long interest and love for our Australian lighthouses, and your website is just fantastic. I have visited many times to read about different lighthouses around the country, and particularly enjoy reading stories from people who have lived on the lights or who were previously employed as lightkeepers. I really was thrilled to discover your website, and to realise just how many other folks out there feel the same way about these beautiful structures... although I cannot offer much support in a physical or practical sense, it will be nice to be a member of such a dedicated group of people and to assist in some small way through a financial contribution. Thank you again, and I will be mailing out my membership form and a cheque to you next week. Thanks so much for a wonderful site... Kindest Regards Joanne Pauline O'Brien, LoA Secretary replies: Thanks for your warm encouragement Joanne. You will enjoy the Bulletin, and Prism, our bi-monthly hardcopy magazine with more great articles in it. You can download the membership application form from http://www.lighthouse.net.au/lights/Membership/PrintableApplication.pdf Regards, Pauline |
My Name is Craig Donahoo and I am the assistant manager at the Cape Otway Lightstation. I have been trying to source a photo of a whale oil burning lamp used in the lantern mechanism, and I am wondering whether anyone in your organisation can help me. Kind regards Craig Donahoo |
Mrs Ann Collins writes from Lowestoft in Suffolk, England: My father worked for Trinity House for 37 years as master of various light ships. I have loved lighthouses and lightships from an early age - my daughter is named Patricia after THV Patricia. I think your site is wonderful. Well done. Ann Collins |
