International Lighthouse Conference
by Mini Jacques, Marine Heritage Coordinator, Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, Canada
An International Lighthouse Conference is being held from 1-4 June 2006 in Ontario, Canada, with the theme "Capturing the Past and Securing the Future". The conference includes lectures, films, lighthouse tours and special performances.
This conference is hosted by Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, and its aim is to raise awareness of the work being done across North America, and around the world, to preserve the maritime history of lighthouses and lightkeeping.
Along the Bruce Coast, Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, there are eleven lighthouses and many other range lights. The new Marine Heritage Gallery draws attention to the hundreds of shipwrecks along this coast, and the conference organisers welcome all those who have a passion for marine heritage and lighthouses.
Attending will be lighthouse enthusiasts from around the world, experts in lighthouse preservation and restoration, government agency representatives, and members of the community and Museum.
The lectures by expert speakers include:

There is a discount for early booking, and special pricing packages to allow visitors to attend one lecture or event, or bundle three events or lectures together, rather than booking for the whole conference.
