Bulletin – Vol 9 No. 5 – September/October 2006 |

Welcome everyone to the September/October 2006 edition of the Lighthouses of Australia Inc Bulletin
At the recent Lighthouses of Australia Inc Annual General Meeting, I did not stand for re-election as Editor of the Bulletin, and the position is now vacant.
I have been producing the Bulletin for nearly four years, and for the last two years have also been responsible for managing and redeveloping the LoA website. With my full-time job as a website manager, I find there is too much for one person to undertake. To meet the monthly deadline for the Bulletin was hard enough, and even the current bi-monthly schedule has precluded being able to attend to all the work required on the site. So, I am letting the Bulletin go.
When I first took over the role of Bulletin Editor in 2003 from LoA Inc founder, Malcolm Macdonald, I prepared the Bulletin offsite, and forwarded the completed product to Malcolm to integrate into the website and email to subscribers. The system works well, simply because the Bulletin can be remotely prepared in its entirety, without needing access to the website.
I believe this same strategy can be done again - so, we are looking for someone to step up and take over the production of the Bulletin. Basically, what's involved includes:
Ideally, we would like someone who is a member of Lighthouses of Australia Inc, and preferably someone who is located within easy travelling distance from Melbourne, simply to allow for face-to-face discussions if necessary. But, if there is anyone who can assist in any regard with the process, we look forward to hearing from you. Obviously we are looking for someone who is fully prepared to commit to the responsibility they take on.
At this stage, I am still Acting Bulletin Editor, and have committed to publishing the Bulletin until the end of 2006. After then, until such time as an alternative solution is found, newsworthy stories as they come up will still be published, but as short individual snippets via the homepage.
So, enjoy this Bulletin, I welcome your feedback, and if you are able to assist in preparing future editions of the Bulletin, please contact me via bulletinhelp@lighthouse.net.au.
Remember, if you have enjoyed reading this Bulletin, but you are not a member - support Lighthouses of Australia Inc, take up the opportunity to join LoA Inc, and assist us the preservation of Australia's lighthouses.
