QLD lighthouse offers holiday with a difference
by the West Australian Newspaper
If you’re looking for seclusion for your holiday party or corporate group, how about a lighthouse?
Cape Capricorn Lighthouse on Curtis Island near Gladstone, in Central Queensland, has two cottages available for up to 12 people.
Located at 100m above sea level, it affords 360-degree panoramic views, including sunrise and sunset.
They’re linked to the beach below by walking tracks and a 4WD road. Transportation to the lighthouse and cottages can be by boat from Gladstone (then a scenic drive across the island) or by helicopter.
Hosts Bruce and Glenice Kingston can take guests around the island beach-combing, motoring by 4WD, hiking, surfing,
snorkelling, fishing, crabbing, reef walking, canoeing or bird-watching.
The refurbished cottages were former residences for the lighthouse keepers in the days when it was manned.
For rates and other details, call 0418-740-067.
