Rottnest Lighthouse Tours
The Rottnest Voluntary Guides Association is starting a new tour of the Lighthouse on Wadjemup Hill at the beginning of November.
There will be 2 tours a week of the iconic building, on Thursdays and Saturdays. The lighthouse is primarily an aid to navigation and strict regulations apply to ensure tourist activities do not interfere with the operation of the lighthouse. As a result, the tours are closely supervised and members of the RVGA are being trained to conduct the tours with these regulations in mind.
Henry Crawford, president of the RVGA, said the organisation hoped that after a trial period the tours might become daily. RVGA has more than 200 members who conduct educational and environmental tours of Rottnest Island for visitors.
