Island 125th Anniversary – October 2006Celebrations are planned for Montague Island's 125th Anniversary on 1 November 2006. A special day has been organised to give interested persons and especially lighthouse service workers, lightkeepers and descendents to come out to Montague Island and celebrate 125 years of maritime history. PDF Keep an eye out for ABC TV's new documentary series, "Real Life Water Rats", which will feature Maatsuyker Island in its final episode at 8pm, 20 September. "As the surveillance squad waits for their man in darkness, police flagship, Van Dieman, is on patrol on Tasmania's wild south west waters. Expecting savage seas, the crew find themselves in a wonderland of seal colonies, at Australia's most remote southern lighthouse on the fabled Maatsuyker Island." |
